Fruit has formed part of our diet for as long as we have been eating. Everywhere in the world people have settled, there is fruit of some kind to help feed us and keep us healthy. This ranges from the delicious citrus fruits from warmer climes, to the soft fruits and berries which can survive in colder temperatures.

We enjoy the taste of them, while gainig the benefits of nutrition and vitamins essential for keep us in good health.

However, over the years, as the range of foods available to us had become very wide, we have reduced the proportion of fruit in our diet, replacing them with meats, grains, rice and pasta, bread, cakes, puddings, sweets and all the other fast foods and prepared meals available to us in the modern world.

In recent years years health experts have been trying to encourage us to improve on what we eat, particularly our consumption of fruit and vegetables. We are urged to eat five a day of fruit and vegetables to get the best nutrition available to keep us healthy and help us fight illness and disease.
